Decanter - 1st January 2009 p.84-89
Robert Mondavi Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 - Highly Recommended 16.5/20
Very rich brambly blackberry nose. Ripe tannins, massive, but with spice and acidity too. Hedonistic without being bland or flabby. From 2010
Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 - Recommended 15/20
Simple, straight forward, ripe but not overblown. Plenty of tannic support, long, spicy finish, well balanced. From 2009
Esquire Magazine - January 2009 - Anthony Quinn p.55
Reserve Pinot Noir 2006
...is round, juicy, packed with black cherry and raspberry flavours, and underpinned by a pleasant acidity. In character it lies somewhere between the old school reserve of Burgundy and the silky open handed friendliness of California
Decanter - 1st December 2008
Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 - Highly Recommended
Stalky black fruit, capsicum caramel and jammy notes. Big tannins, some acidity. Well made blockbuster. 2013-2018.
The Guardian Supplement - 17th September 2008
Robert Mondavi Winery Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
This has a fresh, intense blackcurranty nose with a chocolately edge. The dark, slighty flat fruit has a hidden depth. An interesting wine.
Decanter - 1st October 2008 (Stephen Brook)
Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
Youthful, vibrant cassis, hint of leaf. Punchy tannins. Long.
Margaret Hickey, Business Plus Magazine, March 2008
Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Cabernet 2001
Aromas of blackberry cassis and a touch of dark chocolate. The ripe fruit is nicely carried on tannins that are unobtrusive and the length is decent.
Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Fume Blanc 2005
Quite fragrant with lime blossom and gooseberries and has a sprightly bite to it. It begs to be partnered with seafood and would also go well with spicy Thai.
Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Carneros Chardonnay 2003
Impressive with its massive hit of aroma and flavour. It unapologetically carries some oak but the fruit come through well and the winemaker has given a velvety texture to the wine without lapsing into flabbiness.
Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Pinot Noir 2003
Delivers the pleasure that good Pinot Noir can give - complexity and seductiveness - but avoids being too rich and ripe, giving dark fruit and smooth spiciness that is subtle and persuasive.
Paul O' Doherty, The Investor, 1st June 2008
Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Cabernet 2001
Another blockbuster with talent and fruit that, like most of the wines at this level, needn't tap dance for a few years to come.
Matthew Jukes, The Daily Mail, 15 March 2008
Robert Mondavi Fume Blanc 2006
This was the best sauvignon by miles (at the Benchmark great value Californian wines tasting), an iconic wine with loads more flavour than most New Zealand sauvignons, and the extra richness makes it even more experienced with food-matching.
Jamie Goode, The Sunday Express 16th December 2007
Believe it or not, most cheeses work best with white wines, not red, says Jamie Goode. Perfect for "a range of cheeses" is 2005 Robert Mondavi Private Selection Chardonnay (£9.99 or £7.99 each for two; Majestic)
Stephen Brook, Wines of the Year, Decanter, December 2007
Robert Mondavi Winery 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Napa Valley - DECANTER AWARD *****
Lovely ripe, sweet nose. Complexity of flavours to develop. Openness of character. Beautifully constituted. 5-10 years.
Alison Buchanan, The World of Fine Wine, Issue 17 2007
Robert Mondavi Winery 2004 Chardonnay Reserve Carneros / Napa Valley 16/20
Hugely rich and caramelized on the nose. Cream, grilled bananas and toffee come to the fore. While the nose begs the question whether to use it as a sauce for ice cream, the palate is much more balanced, with obvious ripeness and toasted character married to acidity.
Oz Clarke in The World of Fine Wine, Issue 17 2007
Robert Mondavi Winery 2004 Chardonnay Reserve Carneros / Napa Valley 14/20
Full green-gold. A big fat nose. Pretty fat palate-wise too. Yet there is some quality still in these old-timer styles. It's fair, it's full, it's smoky, but it's well enough balanced.
Simon Woods, Wine & Spirit - November 2007
Mondavi Fume Blanc, Napa Valley 2005 - Mondavi's Napa wines are excellent. This Fume Blanc has a full texture; lithe pithy citrus fruit; a touch of toasty oak and a rich but restrained finish. Drink 2007-2009, 90 points
Eddie Hart, Proprietor, Barrafina, Square Meal - Autumn 2007
Mondavi Private Selection Fume Blanc 2004
A delicious Sauvignon. It has wonderful pear, orange and jasmine notes on the nose and melon on the palate, plus a mineral backbone and crisp clean acidity which leaves a clean taste in the mouth.
Decanter - October 2007
Woodbridge Shiraz 2004
Floral, redcurrant and apple nose. Earthy notes. Fleshy, ripe, and very tasty. Easy drinking
Robert Mondavi Chardonnay 2004
Subtle oak and fresh aromas. Structured and long
Robert Mondavi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2002
Finely oaked with a savoury note. Black fruits, leafy herbs, substantial tannins.
Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon 2004
Fresh fruit driven nose. All black fruits and concentration. Deep, brooding. Needs time
Will Lyons, Scotland on Sunday - 16 September 2007
Robert Mondavi Winery Fumé Blanc 2005
Rich and hedonistic, with an awesome, seductive creaminess.
Robert Mondavi Private Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2004
Vanilla, plum, blackberry and spice are there, but it is understated. This is a very fine wine.
Robert Mondavi Private Selection Fumé Blanc 2004
A big, heady wine with an enticing mix of melon, grapefruit and pear, and a delicious citrus undertone.
Matthew Jukes, The Daily Mail Weekend - 15 September 2007
Robert Mondavi Winery Fumé Blanc 2006
This is one of a few oaked sauv blancs that truly works. The sauvignon blanc grape doesn't really like oaked barrels, because their flavours tend to clash too much, but in this sublime wine it is a marriage made in heaven. A dream - unmissable.
Terry Durack, The Independent on Sunday: Review - 9 September 2007
Mondavi Private Selection
A versatile cherry/berry Mondavi Private Selection Pinot Noir mixes effortlessly with the food, and is an absolute bargain at £17
Jacqueline Morley, The Gazette (Blackpool) - 8 September 2007
If you fancy fuller bodied go for the Robert Mondavi Private Selection Chardonnay 2005 - much rated by Raymond Blanc, one of the better chefs gracing telly screens right now.
Shropshire Star - 21 June 2007
Robert Mondavi Private Selection Chardonnay 2006
If you are serving barbecued chicken with creamy, mayonnaise dressed salads you will need a richer, fuller bodied white wine such as this
Mike Tipping, The Press (York) - 26 May 2007
Robert Mondavi private selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2004
17/20. More classical than many Californian wines at the same price, it's full, expressive and well-balanced, with spearmint, raspberry, cassis, and nicely integrated tannins.
Ned Halley, Sentinel Sunday - 6 May 2007
Mondavi Private Selection Chardonnay 2003
Winners I have tasted so far this year include Mondavi Private Selection Chardonnay 2003 from California
Ned Halley, Western Morning News (Devon Edition) - 5 May 2007
Mondavi Private Selection Chardonnay 2003
It has a yellow-gold colour, rich, even buttery texture and yet genuinely lively freshness. Balance is perfect and the effect is deliciously convincing.
Ned Halley, Western Morning News (Devon Edition) - 5 May 2007
Mondavi Private Selection Chardonnay 2003
Winners I have tasted so far this year include Mondavi Private Selection Chardonnay 2003 from California
Robin FitzGerald, Cambridge Times/Wisbech Standard - 13 April 2007
Robert Mondavi Chardonnay 2005
Consistently good citrussy and tropical fruited Chardonnay
Matthew Jukes - Daily Mail - 3rd March 2007
2005 Robert Mondavi Woodbridge Chardonnay*
'The most famous name in California is still bringing us what we want, despite Mondavi taking several steps away from the limelight. My Wine of the Week sits shoulder to shoulder with any other great chardonnay at a similar price. What it has in its favour is years of experience and oodles of class. In a 'blind' tasting it came out as the undisputed winner.'
Jane MacQuitty - The Times - 1st April 2006
2001 Robert Mondavi Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
'California's equivalent is the delectable 2001 Robert Mondavi Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon which is sweeter, riper and oakier, but so cassis-rich that even at £22.99 from Tesco, it's a steal.'
Anthony Rose - The Independent - 18th February 2006
2003 Woodbridge Chardonnay
'An attractively put together, workmanlike everyday Californian white from the house of Mondavi with ripe, buttery fruit flavours.'
Richard Ehrlich - The Independent - 19th February 2006
2003 Woodbridge Chardonnay
'A low priced winner from the Mondavi stable, good fruit given sensible oak treatment, and a star buy at the festival price.'
Matthew Jukes - The Mail on Saturday - 22nd January 2006
2003 Robert Mondavi Woodbridge Chardonnay
'Californian chardonnay can cost a fortune, but this wine, made by the celebrated Mondavi outfit, is great value. There is even a tiny dribble of viognier to add yet more complexity to the nose. And with its rich fruit and sensitive oak, you get a lot of wine for your money.'
Matthew Jukes - The Mail on Saturday - 3rd December 2005
2003 Robert Mondavi Woodbridge Shiraz
'Mondavi's shiraz is another winner from this ever reliable label. Plummy, with spice and oodles of velvety texture, this is a warm smooth, silky wine with a medium weight texture and a soothing, savoury finish. A very smart wine indeed for just over £6.'
Independent on Sunday - Richard Ehrlich - Sunday 23rd October 2005
Robert Mondavi Woodbridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2003
'From this newly spruced-up range, a fine Cabernet showing the right cassis fruit and generous but judicious oak treatment. Very impressive'
The Observer - Tim Atkin - 2nd October 2005
Robert Mondavi Woodbridge Chardonnay 2003
'A return to form for California's famous winery, this is a very attractive West Coast Chardonnay
